Santa Ana, CA (July 6, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision that took place early Saturday morning, July 4th, in Santa Ana. Officers reported the fatal incident at around 1:20 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Fairview Street.
According to authorities, officers with the Santa Ana Police Department were dispatched to the scene where they arrived to find the victim down in the roadway with severe injuries. He was pronounced deceased a short time later.
An investigation into the incident revealed that a southbound vehicle struck the man and fled the area with a shattered windshield. Police officers located the vehicle and arrested Jonathan Padilla, 20, of Santa Ana at his residence.
Padilla was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
