Riverside, CA (May 19, 2023) – A head-on collision took place early Tuesday morning in Riverside, claiming the life of an 8-year-old child and sending four others to the hospital.
A gray Nissan and a white Honda sedan were involved in an accident near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Stover Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Honda’s driver swerved into the path of the oncoming Nissan. Various vehicle parts and other debris were flung across the road and into nearby yards by the force of the collision.
According to a Riverside Police Department spokeswoman, all four occupants of the Nissan were taken to the hospital, one adult female and three minors, with critical to severe injuries. One of the minors, an 8-year-old child, later succumbed to his injuries.
The Honda driver was also seriously injured and transferred to the hospital. The police are still reviewing the cause of the collision and have not provided further details in the interim.
