California Auto Accident Statistics

Huntington Beach, CA-Multi-Vehicle Crash on Beach BLVD Kills 1

Recent statistics show that California is one of the most dangerous cities for people on the road. California ranks number 2 in states with the highest rates of accidents in the United States, following Texas. Most accidents take place in heavily trafficked areas where people are making turns or near intersections. Reckless speeding, driving while distracted, and driving while impaired are all common factors when it comes to collisions in California.

The conditions of roads are also another important factor to consider when it comes to California accidents. A new study analyzed California’s roads, and 44% of those roads were reported to be in poor condition. Technically, only 22% of the state’s roads were actually considered to be in good condition.

In 2022, there is recorded data that shows that there were about 3,500 accidents that resulted in 3,900 deaths. Close to 300,000 people were injured in almost 200,000 wrecks. Drivers who actively practice safe driving and maintain safe speeds will lower their risks of being involved in an accident. Drivers should be sure to minimize any and all distractions while operating a vehicle at any time of the day.
