Long Beach, CA (May 4, 2022) – On May 3, at approximately 6:21 p.m., police were called to the scene of an accident in Long Beach. Reports indicate the crash happened on East Willow Street near Coyote Creek between two vehicles. 

One male lost his life in the wreck, according to reports. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found a 2017 Subaru Outback in the eastbound lanes of Willow Street along with an overturned 1995 GMC Yukon that was in the flood control channel below. 

Responders with the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the crash site and transported both involved drivers to local medical centers to be treated for injuries. The driver of the GMC later lost their life due to the severity of their injuries. 

Preliminary reports reveal that both vehicles were headed east on Willow Street when the Subaru Outback collided with the GMC Yukon from behind, pushing the Yukon off the roadway where it landed on its roof in the flood control channel below the road. 

The GMC’s driver was identified as a male, 53, from Compton. His identity is currently being withheld pending the notification of his family. Now, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. 

The Subaru’s driver was identified as 66-year-old Btan Grayley, a resident of Long Beach.
