California Pedestrian Accidents

Seal Beach CA - 1 Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Pacific Coast HwyPedestrian accidents in California are unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence. Being one of the most populated states in the nation, traffic accidents occur there daily, injuring, and taking the lives of thousands of people per year. Pedestrian accidents in California injured more than 14,000 people in 2018 and took the lives of hundreds of individuals. That same year, 893 people lost their lives due to California pedestrian crashes. That is an approximate 26% increase from 2014.

These accidents can take place for a multitude of different reasons, but unfortunately, they are usually the result of driver negligence or error. The current leading cause of California pedestrian accidents is drivers failing to yield the right of way to pedestrians, as the law states that they should. Most of the time, pedestrians often have the right of way and are repeatedly struck by drivers who disregard the law, resulting in injurious collisions. This is one of the most dangerous forms of driver negligence.

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable of all travelers on the roadway at any given time due to their lack of protection from motor vehicles. Being struck by a car will almost always result in serious injury or death for a pedestrian.
