Stanton, CA (July 20, 2020) – According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a man identified as 51-year-old Mark Palacios, of Cerritos, was killed in a collision that was allegedly caused by a jaywalking pedestrian on Sunday morning, July 19th. The fatal accident occurred on Beach Boulevard near Katella Avenue at around 10:00 a.m.

Authorities say that Palacios was traveling along Beach Boulevard when several vehicles suddenly braked and swerved in front of him. The vehicles were attempting to avoid hitting a man who they say was jaywalking, and Palacios subsequently collided with the rear of an unspecified car.

Emergency crews responded to the scene where they pronounced Palacios deceased. At this time, sheriff’s deputies are continuing to look for the pedestrian involved as part of an ongoing investigation into this incident.
